ITRI is building a Taiwanese investment return platform
Date: 2019-10-07
News Type:
ITRI has created an “innovative R&D platform for overseas Taiwanese businessmen who want to return home to invest”, in assisting them to transform and upgrade. It has further established a project team to provide integrated service solutions to link the industrial ecosystem with added technological energy, with five significant advantages: technology, patents, talents, new creations, and a platform, to enhance Taiwan’s industrial development. They are all set to help top Taiwanese businessmen to promote production intelligence, transformation and improvement, and raise international competitiveness.
The three critical aspects for Taiwanese businessmen to return to Taiwan to invest in the innovative R&D platform include investing in new ventures and assisting in upgrading the digital transformation industry and talent development.
Mr. Chuan-Neng Lin, the Administrative Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOE), said that in the face of the recent return trend of Taiwanese businessmen, the MOE had launched a Taiwanese investment plan to promote Taiwanese investment. As of September 26, 142 manufacturers have responded to the Taiwanese investment plan for returning to Taiwan, with a total investment exceeding US$611.1 billion. It expects to create 52,800 domestic employment opportunities. This reflects ITRI’s support of the Taiwanese business return policy through action. Taiwan’s industrial upgrade has five significant advantages, better known as “5 Possessions”, including technology, patents, talents, new creations, and a platform. These are the five soft powers necessary for an industrial upgrade. The ITRI’s innovative R&D platform for Taiwanese businessmen to return home to invest is a one-stop service to meet the needs of the enterprises.
Mr. Edwin Liu, the Dean of ITRI, said that the needs of Taiwanese businessmen returning to Taiwan can be divided into three categories. Firstly, disperse the risks and expand the global production layout. Secondly, enhance productivity through automation transformation and accelerate manufacturing transformation and development. Thirdly, strengthen the layout of AI, 5G, and other next-generation technologies under the layout of forward-looking technological R&D. ITRI has combined the capital and technology markets to assist Taiwanese companies with transformation and development. And the ITRI’s technology can also help introduce funds to this targeted investment for these enterprises, investing the funds in the right industries, and helping the capital market integrate into the technology market. It also allows the return funds of Taiwanese companies to drive Taiwan’s industry, upgrade talent, and promote Taiwan’s economic development. The overall goal is to allow the Taiwanese businessmen to return to their reliable “maternal home.” (News source: Commercial Times)
