三星擬用5G強化晶片生產

南韓三星電子正在德州奧斯汀的晶片廠測試，要如何運用5G高通訊速度、低延遲的聯網能力，提改善晶片製造流程，並證明5G的潛力。
三星已與美國電信商AT&T的通訊部門合作，投資數百萬美元自訂5G網路，試驗如何把5G應用在晶片製造上。AT&T通訊部門科技長佛萊奇（Andre Fletch）說，廠房會是5G的最大受益者，「我們認為5G能解決現今一般工廠很多在Wi-Fi方面的問題」，例如能使廠房中負責品管的電腦視覺掃描設備的傳輸更可靠。
晶片製造過程需耗用大量的水以及有毒金屬，5G可以幫助廠房減少廢料，並警告員工哪裡有安全風險。
三星北美網路策略、業務開發及行銷副總裁夏哈（Alok Shah）說，5G網路上可以安裝更多感應器以監控空氣品質，而透過5G網路即時串流感應器的數據，意味著控制中心能立刻偵測到嚴重的空氣品質問題，並撤離人群，這是現行的無線網路科技力有未逮之處。他說，5G在每平方公里的空間中能夠支援100萬個裝置，4G僅能支援約10萬個。(新聞來源：經濟日報)
