Startup Terrace teams up with Amazon to establish Taiwan’s only POB-based 5G empirical site

The Small and Medium Enterprise Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs signed a contract with Amazon Web Services (AWS) on March 26 to jointly establish the Startup Terrace-AWS Joint Innovation Center at Startup Terrace, Linkou. It is Taiwan’s only POB-based 5G empirical site to provide reward subsidies, rent reduction, and other incentives. It has attracted nearly 70 international accelerators and strategic newcomers to be stationed in it, using international cooperation to accelerate the deployment and application of Taiwan’s innovations in cloud technology.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs said that the Joint Innovation Center is expected to attract the world’s leading companies, startup teams, and technical experts to be stationed in it. They include accelerators that help startup companies and small and medium-sized enterprises in order to pursue digital transformation and cloud computing while providing AWS cloud services, technical training, and business and technical consulting such as Internet of Things (IoT), big data analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI), AWS cloud computing, etc. The goals are to help companies save significant costs, speed up time-to-market, and enhance business agility.

To accelerate industrial upgrades and structural transformation, the Executive Yuan has been promoting the 5+2 Innovation Industries Plan, while the Ministry of Economic Affairs has created an international-level entrepreneurial settlement - “Startup Terrace” in Universiade Athletes’ Village at Linkou. Vice Premier Chen Chi-mai said that it is not only the only POB-based 5G empirical site in the country but also provides incentive subsidies, where the first year of office rental is free, the second year of rent is discounted 50%, customized services are provided, etc. To date, it has attracted nearly 70 international accelerators and strategic newcomers.
