IoT/汽車電子帶動 8吋晶圓廠欣欣向榮
在物聯網(IoT)與汽車應用帶動下，8吋晶圓廠未來數年將出現明顯復蘇。不管是從晶圓廠家數或月投片產能的角度來看，8吋晶圓廠都已擺脫金融海嘯以來的低迷氣氛，出現明顯復蘇。
SEMI預估，到2020年時，全球8吋晶圓廠的月產能將達570萬片8吋晶圓，超越2007年所創下的歷史紀錄，至於在晶圓廠家數方面，2016年全球共有188座營運中的8吋晶圓廠，到2021年時，則可望增加到197座。
按照地理區分佈來看，到2021年時，大陸的8吋晶圓產能將是全球最高，在2017~2021年間，產能成長率為34%。東南亞跟美國的8吋晶圓產能在同一時間也將出現明顯成長，成長率分別為29%與12%。
SEMI進一步分析指出，物聯網跟汽車電子是推動8吋晶圓復蘇的主要推手，因為相關應用所需的晶片很適合利用8吋晶圓廠量產。也因為這個緣故，許多手上擁有8吋晶圓廠的業者不僅紛紛將現有廠房的產能拓展到極限，還計畫興建全新的8吋晶圓廠，以滿足未來的市場需求。（新聞來源：新電子）
