The Taipei 5G Summit will debut on May 30th and it is understood that foreign companies such as Intel and Qualcomm will, with the assistance of the 5G office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), expand its cooperation with Taiwanese companies for 5G this year. In addition, the 5G office will also assist Taiwanese companies in securing the orders from the deployment of the 5G network with Indian telecom operators such as Reliance, Jio, and GTI, while also maintaining the commercialization of 5G for the Japan Winter Olympics to promote the amalgamation of businesses in 5G+ICT. An impressive list of ranking management individuals, including international competitors in the 5G markets, will be making a trip to Taiwan.
The list includes important 5G figures such as Jennifer D. Panhorst (the vice president of the Business Department of Data Center of Intel), James J. Cathey (the senior vice president and global business president of Qualcomm), Liang, Chien-Hou (the president and CEO of Super Micro, Pankaj, and Sharma). The CTO of the Indian telecom company, Reliance Jio. In addition, Koichi Katagiri (the director of the Mobile Communications Section), the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication of Japan, and Mansoor Hanif (the CTO of the English Communications Authority (Ofcom),
Although the Sino-US trade war continues to present new changes, the concept of 5G stocks remain to be the focus of the market layout in the future. Institute investors have pointed out that the companies that should expect continual benefits from the 5G trend includes companies working on small base stations (Sercomm, Accton, and Arcadyan) , companies working on antenna / millimeter wave components (UMT-TW and Whayu), ,heat-dissipation groups (CCIC, AVC, Taisol, Sunon and others), terminal wafer factories such as MediaTek, and other PCB groups (Unimicron, and Nanyapcb).. Interestingly, Taiwanese manufacturers have always been the largest partners of Intel, as both Intel and ITRI have already worked in the field of 4G. The 5G office additionally noted that the cooperation between the two parties will be extended to the performance lab of 5G and that it will be an important highlight of the 5G summit this year.
Following Qualcomm’s acceptance of the settlement terms with the Fair Trade Commission of Taiwan, it promised to expand investments in the country. Apart from having joined the national team of 5G (led by Chunghwa Telecom) Qualcomm and Ericsson have also worked with global benchmark telecom companies like AT&T, Verizon, and Vodafone to carry out non-standalone (NSA) 5G NR (new radio) in terms of multi-factory and interoperability collaboration. Such collaboration will further assist the development of 5G equipment and terminal products of 5G into international markets. The Taipei 5G Summit will further promote and extend the 5G cooperation of Qualcomm into a small and medium-sized Taiwanese enterprise.
According to reports, Reliance Jio has created an urgent demand for small base stations, while the 5G office expressed the possibility that it can facilitate Taiwanese Netcom companies to cooperate with telecom operators such as Reliance Jio.
As for the GTI organization, initiated by China Mobile, as many as 135 telecoms, equipment, and terminal manufacturers have joined the ranks around the world. As a result of this, Carlson ChuRe (the senior vice president of PCCW of Hong Kong) was sent to Taiwan. Furthermore, telecom operators such as GTI members will begin to establish a 5G network test around the world this year, presenting another important source of business opportunity for Taiwanese plants. In addition, since Japan is planning to start with the commercialized operation of 5G in the 2020 Winter Olympics, 5G officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan will particularly want to consider Taiwan. Moreover, apart from sharing the spectrum policy, MOEA will also help Taiwanese companies in developing their brand as important members of the 5G supply chain for the 2020 Winter Olympics.
